What is the age requirement to participate on a Crossroads Missions Trip?
For most trips, we ask for the participants to be at least 16 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must have parent or extended family member accompany them on a mixed adult/student trip. For some trips, students age 10-16 years old may participate if accompanied by a parent. There is an opportunity for select students to participate in a Student Guatemala trip every other year.
Do I have to be a member of Crossroads to apply for the trip?
No, you do not have to be a member of Crossroads to apply. We do give preference to child sponsors and members who volunteer at Crossroads. You can learn more about Membership and Serving here:
How long is the trip?
The trip lengths vary from 7- 14 days, including the travel.
Is a passport required?
Yes. Traveling outside the United States requires an up-to-date passport. You must have at least 6 months remaining on your passport from the last date of the trip. (example – travel return date is May 1st, your passport must be good beyond Nov 1st.) Passports cost approximately $175. On how to apply for a U.S. Passport visit here.
Did my application go through?
You will receive a confirmation email as soon as we can get back to you after submitting your application. If you did not, please fill out the application again.
What happens to my application if I’m not selected for a specific trip?
If you are not selected your application goes onto a waiting list. If another trip leader is still looking for people for their team, then they may contact you to see if you are interested.
What vaccinations do I need to get? Please visit the CDC website for the country you are traveling to and consult your medical doctor to determine what vaccinations you will need. Vaccinations can be obtained at the Richland County Health Department and some insurance do reimburse for these.
