For most trips, we ask for the participants to be at least 16 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or extended family member accompany them on a mixed adult/student trip. For some trips, students ages 10-16 years old may participate if accompanied by a parent. There is an opportunity for select students to participate in a Student Guatemala trip every other year.

No, you do not have to be a member of Crossroads to apply. We do give preference to child sponsors and members who volunteer at Crossroads.

You can learn more about membership and serving here.

The trip lengths vary from 7- 14 days, including travel.

Yes. Traveling outside the United States requires an up-to-date passport. You must have at least 6 months remaining on your passport from the last date of the trip. (For example – the travel return date is May 1st, and your passport must be good beyond Nov 1st.) Passports cost approximately $175. On how to apply for a U.S. Passport visit here.

You will receive a confirmation email as soon as we can get back to you after submitting your application. If you did not, please fill out the application again.

If you are not selected your application goes onto a waiting list. If another trip leader is still looking for people for their team, then they may contact you to see if you are interested.

Please visit the CDC website for the country you are traveling to and consult your medical doctor to determine what vaccinations you will need. Vaccinations can be obtained at the Richland County Health Department and some insurances do reimburse for these.
