In the New Testament we find descriptions of early church life that are very appealing. Groups who regularly met together were close knit, dynamic, and excited about their faith. These original churches met in people’s homes and experienced an intimacy that is often lacking in a modern church (Acts 2:43-47, Ephesians 4:15-16).
Our vision of House Churches is one that models what we learned from the early church. We believe that involvement in a House Church is one of the most important ways to begin growing and continue growing as a Christ Follower. A House Church provides a place for Christ-Followers to develop close fellowship and to learn and grow. They also provide an outreach opportunity to invite non-Christians to come and learn about Christ.
The Bible teaches that God has arranged a special role for each Christian in the local Christian community (1 Cor. 12:11-25). To that end, we encourage our congregation to become a part of a house church where they can learn Biblical truth through Bible study and share Christian love with one another in practical ways. Every House Church has a mission focus, giving members an opportunity to serve together. House Churches often take part in fun and exciting activities, offering an ideal environment to develop deeper friendships.
A House Church is not a replacement for the weekend worship at Crossroads, but rather House Churches grow and strengthen the overall ministry at Crossroads. The larger church will feed people into the House Churches and vice-versa as we invite our friends and neighbors to our House Churches, we will be able to assimilate them into our weekend worship as well.
