  • How did you become a part of Crossroads?  My parent have good friends who invited me to check out the church.  The music and contemporary atmosphere is what I’d grown to love in the church that I attended in Alabama and was desperate to find again in Mansfield.
  • Favorite book(s)?  I love reading a good, thick 400 page novel by Jonathan Kellerman or James Patterson.
  • What’s on your iPod?  I don’t have one; the radio works well for me and it’s usually blasting when I clean.
  • Favorite vacation spot?  Sweet home Alabama, Gulf shores, that is.

  • How did you become a part of Crossroads? My wife made me come for a service.  I started to put on my suit and she said I could wear shorts and a polo shirt.  Coffee, donut holes and a great message on marriage had me returning every weekend after that!

  • How did you become a part of Crossroads?  We lived in Florida and kept hearing about this new church that was soon to start.  When we moved back to Ohio in August 1996, we decided to check Crossroads out.  It only took one visit and we’ve been here ever since!
  • Favorite book(s)?  All kinds of mystery books!  I love to read!
  • What’s on your iPod?  I keep lots of books and Christian music on my iPad so I always have it with me.  And of course, the Crossroads App!
  • Favorite vacation spot?  Anywhere HOT!  Especially if it’s on a Cruise Ship!

  • How did you become a part of Crossroads? My first visit to Crossroads was on my birthday 2000. I started serving as a small group leader and was later elected to the Elder Board. I began serving on staff in January of 2007.
  • Favorite book(s)? The Bible (specifically the ESV Study Bible); The Frontiersmen by Alan Eckert; Animal Farm by George Orwell; Team of Rivals by Doris Kerns Goodwin; The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara.
  • What’s on your iPod? Beethoven, Boston, Bluetree. Plus lots of podcasts of sermons by Al Mohler, Ravi Zacharias, John MacArthur, Matt Chandler and of course….Tim Armstrong!
  • Favorite vacation spot? Anywhere where there is sun, a beach, a book to read and most importantly a place where I can just be with my wife, Jean.

  • What is one unique fact about you? People always ask me where I got my name. It’s a family name that has been passed down from generations past, but mostly as last or middle name. I’m the first in my family to have “Deering” as a first name.

  • How did you become a part of Crossroads? My aunt had been inviting me to Crossroads while I still lived in South Carolina. She said she knew this great church and told me I’d have to go with her when I came up for vacation. One year later, I moved here, visited once and immediately got plugged in.
  • Favorite book(s)? Joshua, Colossioans and Philippians.  The Circle Trilogy (and Green) by Ted Dekker.  The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.  Jurassic Park and Lost World by Michael Crichton.  Crazy Love by Francis Chan, Radical by David Platt.  And I definitely cried when I read A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks...and I pretty much love reading the Harry Potter books.
  • What’s on your iPod? A junk load of stuff. The Rocket Summer, Switchfoot, House of Heroes, lots and lots of Hillsong, The Goo Goo Dolls, Lecrae and raw sounding acoustic music.   • How did you become a part of Crossroads? After our son was born, my husband and I made a commitment to return to church. We attended church sporadically, but never really committed. Our wonderful neighbors/friends attended Crossroads faithfully as a family. Watching them live their faith “out loud” made us curious about their church. After getting to know them better, we decided to attend. We had never experienced anything like it and couldn’t wait to return the next week.

  • Where did you grow up? Born in Detroit, Michigan....I was 10 years old when we moved to Mansfield, Ohio when my dad transferred with GM.
  • How did you become a part of Crossroads?  I wasn't attending any particular church at the time and had heard about Crossroads.  The first time I visited, the message directly pertained to what I was going through in my life at the time, and knew this was where I was supposed to be.   
  • Favorite book(s)? Do magazines count?  Love to read, but don't have a lot of time to do so.....I'm not Wonder Woman, but God Made me Wonderful! by Sheila Walsh is great.
  • What's on your iPod? Casting Crowns, Country, and the good ole' 80s.
  • Favorite vacation spot? Anywhere with a nice sandy beach, blue water, and hot, sunny  weather!
  • Favorite food(s)? Salads, homemade broccoli cheese soup.
